About this tool

These are static QR codes: the content is stored inside the code itself. They never expire and do not pass through a redirect service that could track scans or stop working. The trade-off is that you cannot change the destination after printing. If you might need to, point the code at a page on your own website that you control.

Download SVG for print (it scales to any size without blurring) and PNG for screens and documents. Keep strong contrast, ideally a dark code on a light background, and leave the white margin (quiet zone) around the code. Many scanners cannot read inverted or low-contrast codes. Always test a printed code with two different phones.

Good to know

  • Up to about 2,900 characters at low error correction; less at higher levels.
  • Static codes cannot be edited or tracked after creation.
  • Wi-Fi codes are supported by the built-in camera on current iPhone and Android devices.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. The content is encoded directly in the image, so the code works for as long as the destination exists.

Can I track how many people scan my code?

Not with a static code. Add campaign parameters such as ?utm_source=poster to your link and check your website analytics instead.

Is the Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?

No. The code is generated in your browser. Remember that anyone who scans the printed code can read the password.
